Is your determination the enemy of your greatest success? A story.
Sometimes there’s just a better plan than the brilliant one in our head, no matter how life-changing we’re convinced our ideas are.
“Determination Blindness”
A very common situation when I intervene with my clients looks like this:
1. They set a huge goal they’re convinced will change the world.
2. They fall in love with their plans of how to achieve that goal, and they dig in with determination.
3. Better options arise for HOW to achieve their goal, but they stick to the plan, blinded by their own determination to the upgrades.
4. This blind spot slows down and often shuts down their success.
Of course, YOU’VE never become so attached to your plans (how) that you’ve sacrificed your results (what), right? I was afflicted with “determination blindness” just this week, so I share my story in this video because nothing teaches like a real-world story.
Fortunately for me, it was small and containable. But let’s see if it helps you recognize some “determination blindness” you’re unknowingly experiencing, right now.
Please share this with someone who would benefit.
