Is it better to learn new things or to learn things you know more deeply?

Is it more valuable for you to learn new things — or to go deeper into things you already know? Asking it as an either/or question may not be ideal since there’s value in both. But if you’re really committed to leading people to do great things, forcing yourself to hypothetically choose one or the other is worth doing.

I believe our predominant Western mindset not just suggests but assumes that learning new things is far better. I’ve had people look at me like I’m a lunatic when I suggest they might want to go deeper into a topic they already know – to read a book again, to take the same workshop a second or third time, or to re-study the basics of an area they’re an expert in.

This video offers you an invitation to ask yourself whether you’re taking advantage of both paths or over-relying on just one.
